Broke Spoke

This wood-frame old bar, owned and operated by Steve Haas, is located in the middle of Kiln, MS…known locally simply as “the kiln”. Kiln also happens to be the place where the legendary Green Bay Packer, Brett Favre, was born and raised. Brett is, arguably, the greatest NFL quarterback to ever play the game. If you doubt that, get your stats and compare them to mine. The loser gets to buy a round for everyone in the bar, then gets tossed out…after losing money playing pool.
By the way, while I’m thinking about it, don’t ever ask for directions to Kiln. Say instead you’re going to visit some cousins in “the kiln”. Otherwise, you might just wind up in Breaux Bridge, Louisiana. That place is not a good place to get lost in…day or night. If I may, please let me add that I have nothing against the good folks in Breaux Bridge. I just know, I’m “from” here…the South. Cajun’s are “from” there. The accent’s the trick. If you’re not “from” here, you don’t need directions in. You need to consider an alternate route out. And yes, we can spot an impostor every time, but we acknowledge it only after we’ve thoroughly fleeced him. If you can’t find “the kiln”, I’d suggest you take your RV back to Boston. Now, if you’re driving a Harley, that shifts the whole paradigm. But, yet once again, I digress.
Simply stated, this little bar is in the middle of the Southern Division of Green Bay Packers country. Just think of it as the redneck fan club for the Packers. But if you’re headed to Green Bay, don’t look stupid and ask for directions to Lambeau Field. Anybody at the Broke Spoke can tell you that…after a game of pool…for money.
